Netflix launched the official trailer for “Operation Safed Sagar” on July 20, 2026, ahead of its premiere on August 7, 2026.
The launch event was a deeply emotional tribute to the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the unsung heroes of the 1999 Kargil War
The event was attended by the ensemble cast , including Siddharth, Jimmy Shergill, Dia Mirza, Prajakta Koli, Abhay Verma, Mihir Ahuja, and Amrita Bagch , alongside director Oni Sen, IAF veterans, and the real-life families of the officers depicted in the series.
The leading women of the series (Dia Mirza, Prajakta Koli, and Amrita Bagchi) walked onto the stage carrying diyas as a mark of respect and tribute to the families and wives of IAF air warriors.
Siddharth, who portrays the late martyr Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja, broke down while speaking about his role: He confessed that he was initially scared and hesitant to take on the role. “Heroes don’t look like heroes. They become heroes because of their actions. When someone is a martyr… I didn’t want to do injustice to somebody’s memory,” he shared

He revealed that his biggest priority was ensuring that Squadron Leader Ahuja’s wife, Alka Ahuja, approved of the story being told. When Alka Ahuja spoke on stage, the entire cast stood up in respect as she emotionally remarked: “At least now, with this show, I have an image of Ajay.” She also said that I don’t have a single video of Ajay
Jimmy Shergill, playing Wing Commander B.S. Dhanoa (the head of the Golden Arrows squadron), emphasized why this 27-year-old story needs to be told to today’s youth: He recalled his own childhood dream of joining the armed forces and failing to qualify despite a high academic score. He noted how essential it is for younger generations to understand the high-altitude sacrifices made during the Kargil war beyond short-form digital media.
Adil Hussain Who Also Plays Senior IAF officer said that he had this dream to join the forces but his mother was too scared to lose him that’s he became an actor
