The makers of ‘The Kashmir Files’ called a press conference on Monday evening to talk about their upcoming film. Director Vivek Agnihotri was accompanied by actors Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi and Puneet Issar..

The press conference begin with Director Vivek Agnihotri showcasing a 20 mins video footage of the research that had been done by him and pallavi joshi on kashmir genocide in 1990.
During thepress conference, Anupam Kher’s eyes were filled with tears as he is a Kashmiri Pandit and identifies with the pain of victims of the Kashmir exodus 1990. He said that it was very difficult to play his character in the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ because he could relate to the pain on a personal level.

He said, “When Vivek offered me this film, he told me that the name of my character is ‘Pushkar Nath’. It is actually the name of my late father in real life. When we were shooting for this film, the atmosphere was very intense. In the film, I am representing a normal Kashmiri Pandit from Kashmir. It was very difficult to do that role. Because how do I separate the emotions of Anupam Kher from the emotions of the actor that I am. What is real and what is acting! From that point of view, it was one of the most difficult roles “It’s the story that I have already heard from my relatives, my mother. I have kept my emotions under the rug for many years.”

Addressing the journalists, he said, “With the silence in this room, I know, that today, you are shocked too. And that is the biggest achievement of the film. Because when the pain reaches the other people, then half the job is done.”
Anupam Kher has always been vocal about the pain of Kashmiri Pandits. His maternal uncle was one of the victims of the horrifying Kashmir exodus in 1990.
