The trailer launch event for Pritam and Pedro held in Mumbai on June 15, 2026, was an absolute blockbuster of an evening. Marking legendary filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani’s official debut into the OTT space, the star-studded event felt like a nostalgic family reunion .

The series, directed by Avinash Arun (Paatal Lok), stars Arshad Warsi, Vikrant Massey, Mona Singh, Boman Irani, and introduces Hirani’s son, Vir Hirani, in his acting debut.
The undisputed highlight of the evening came when a journalist asked Arshad Warsi if he missed working with his old partner-in-crime, Sanjay Dutt (recalling their iconic Munna Bhai days).

Without missing a beat, Arshad casually replied: “No, we didn’t [miss him], because he’s in the show.” The revelation sent shockwaves through the room. Debutant Vir Hirani was seen frantically signaling from the stage that the cameo was supposed to be a closely guarded secret but the blunder did happen

A heartwarming segment of the launch included a clip from the end credits of Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (2003), where a toddler Vir Hirani briefly played the son of Arshad’s character, Circuit. Arshad got emotional talking about sharing the screen with Vir over two decades later: ”During Munna Bhai, we could already see that Vir was going to be an actor. Until he got prize money and an ice cream, he wouldn’t give the shot! Never thought after all these years we would be acting together.”

Rajkumar Hirani also shared how a random phone call from the Head of the Mumbai Cyber Cell during the COVID-19 lockdown planted the initial seeds for this entire project.
Fresh off various “boy next door” and intense dramatic roles, Vikrant Massey plays the brilliant, calculating antagonist in the series. When asked why he took on a negative avatar, Vikrant joked: ”It’s a big deal to even be in a passing shot of a Rajkumar Hirani film. But I chose to play the anti-hero because I was honestly sick of playing the ‘gaon ka gareeb’ (poor village boy) or the boy next door. I wanted to do something different, and Sir finally gave me that chance.”

To top off the celebratory vibe, legendary playback singer Shreya Ghoshal surprised the attendees by taking the mic and delivering a gorgeous live performance of the song “Piya Piya Piya” from the show’s soundtrack.

Pritam and Pedro follows a tech-oblivious cop (Arshad Warsi) and a sharp ethical hacker (Vir Hirani) tracking down a dangerous cybercriminal who has kidnapped a minister’s son. The series officially begins streaming on JioHotstar on July 3, 2026.
