The trailer for Bandar (also known as Monkey in a Cage), directed by Anurag Kashyap and starring Bobby Deol, is a dark and has gritty tone. While the film had its world premiere at TIFF in 2025, the trailer for its wide theatrical release highlights a very different side of “Lord Bobby.”
Bobby Deol’s Performance suggest this might be one of Deol’s most vulnerable and “unmasked” roles. He moves away from the silent-brute energy of Animal into a character that is confused, desperate, and aging.
Anurag Kashyap seems to be returning to his Ugly or Paatal Lok (which the writers also worked on) roots ,focusing on the ugliness of human relationships rather than stylized action.
Sanya Malhotra and Raj B Shetty appear briefly in the trailer, but their presence suggests a multi-layered story that isn’t just about the accused man, but the society reacting to him.
