Review Of Movie Ek Din – A fantasy driven love story

Star Cast : Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, Kunal Kapoor

Directed by Sunil Pandey

Production House : Aamir Khan Talkies

Overview : The film is an official remake of the 2016 Thai hit One Day.

Storyline: The story follows Dinesh (Dino), played by Junaid Khan, a  nerd and socially awkward IT professional who is invisible to everyone except when their computers break.  He is secretly in love with his colleague Meera (Sai Pallavi), but as he is invisible to all , he is invisible to Meera too , On the other hand Meera  is involved in a complicated relationship with their boss. Nakul ( Kunal Kapoor)

Sometime later when the company  does well in business Nakul announces a trip for all employees to Japan .From there on , the story takes a life changing twist

During trip to Japan, Meera  comes to know that  she has been cheated as her boss Nakul is not getting any divorce from his wife , as promised by him on the contrary, his wife surprises him by CMG to Japan and also revealing that she is pregnant .Meera is heart broken , she drinks alcohol  and under its fit she runs in a  jungle that is totally covered by ice  , there she suffers an accident leading to Transient Global Amnesia (TGA), causing her to lose her memory for exactly one day. At that time Dino is there by her side as all office staff had left for India . Dino saves her but secretly he had prayed japanese god that Meera be hers even if it is for only for one day , his dream has come true so Seizing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity , Dino pretends to be her boyfriend Nakul for that single day and live his fantasy for one whole day as per medical science After that day gets over Meera’s memory will come back but she won’t remember that day due to aTga , all this forms crux of the movie

Technical Review : The movie is best by beat copy of the thai movie except for the climax , The cinematography by Manoj lobo is highlight of the movie , the film captures japan (!hokkaido) beautifully without feeling like a tourism ad. The first half is good due to romance scenes in Japan , second half feels stagnant and slow at some points .

Performances  :Sai Pallavi is widely praised for her natural charm and emotional depth.

She  has very well executed her role  well with her natural charisma

Junaid Khan  has played a simpleton and shy boy who can’t express his feelings  with full  sincerity  and have given grounded performance that fits his “nerdy” character well.

Final Words : Watch it if you like slow burn romantic movie with predictable plot .. but watching  snow clad  interior Japan  is icing on the cake .Go in for the icing .

Ratings : 3*/5*
