Overview : The festive, fresh and feel-good musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Caro
Storyline :The story revolves around Mr. Sood (Kunal Nayyar) is a wealthy businessman and a lonely miser. He hates christmas and says it’s not for non Christians , After ruining Christmas for many people, he gets a warning from the ghost of his descended business partner (Hugh Bonneville) that he will be visited by three ghosts who set out to change Sood’s way. Thereon a back story is revealed by the 3 ghost that visited Sood , The back story goes such that Mr sood was a victim of the Expulsion of Indians from Uganda. His family had status in Uganda, but when he was forced to move to England, he lived as an impoverished refugee and a victim of racism. This experience influenced Sood’s outlook, where he would make something out of himself, become wealthy, and emphasise he’s a Hindu so didn’t celebrate Christmas. This experience turned him into a bitter old man , Will his past demons change his Outlook for better or worse forms the crux of the movie.
Technical Review : Yet another present-day take on Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol, by Gurinder Chaddha Who is best known for giving Bend it like Beckham and many more
The film folds in the little-known history of Ugandan Asian refugees, which is one of its most compelling threads presented by the director
Totally, though, Christmas Karma is pure glossy christmas feature buy
Poverty here is more of an aesthetic than a lived reality, which can make the film feel like it is romanticising struggle rather than honestly confronting it. It’s a far cry from the Dickensian depiction of poverty
The soundtrack is stuffed with big, accessible numbers: poppy choruses, soft ballads and a dash of rap
Performances : Nayyar’s Sood mostly toggles between grumpy and delighted, and the script does not give him much in between.

Some of the most believable moments come from supporting players like Nitin Ganatra as shopkeeper Parduman Singh, whose quieter performance hints at the real people living behind the film’s glitter. Danny Dyer, as Sood’s singing cabbie, brings a true-to-life, lived-in energy;
Final Words : It’s all about Christmas festivities with a twist
Ratings : 3/5
