Overview : It’s supposed to be supernatural thriller horror but it fails to do so
Storyline: In the opening sequence the film is set in Chandrapur District Of West Bengal where in a reputed family Kali Maa’s Message is interpreted in a wrong way and born girl child is sacrificed .This leads to a curse forming on the haveli and Kali Maa Temple is closed , post 40 years Subhankar ( Indraneil Sengupta) is living happily with his wife Ambika ( Kajol) and Daughter Shweta( Kherin Sharma), in Kolkata , Subhankar is the heir of the haveli in Chandarpur , his father stiil stays there but Subhankar does not want to do anything with it , His daughter Shweta insist on vidiher grand pa in holidays but both Subhankar and Ambika is against it , On that night only Subhankar gets a call that his father has expired , he rushed to Chandarpur at night , after final rites he request their family friend Joydev( Ronit Roy) to find a broker as jevwants to sell the haveli , on his way back to the city , subhankar is attacked by the demon and he dies in the car . Ambika is devastated, after 3 months Ambika gets a call from Joydev that a broker meeting is fixed and she has to come to Chandarpur, Ambika wants to go alone but her daughter insist that she will accompany her .Both of them reach chanderpur but the vibes that they were getting was sinister.Shweta meets daughter of the care taker Deepike ( Rupkatha Chakraborty)they become friends soon , Shweta has unknowingly drawn photo of a tree which Deepika says that it is here on chanderpur behind the mansion but it is forbidden to go there as it is haunted by the demon , Ambika tells Shweta not to go there atvall but Due to curiosity both girls go there and behold that night itself Deepika goes missing .Chandrapur village is suffering due to demon who is the rakhtbeej who was killed by Kali Maa but his one drop of blood did remain on earth leading to this demon’s existence , the demon takes away each girl from village once they start getting their periods , in the hope that he can impregnate them for his heir to continue .The real action happens when Shweta too is abducted , her Mother opens the Kali Temple after 40years and prays to goddess Kali to empower her to save her daughter from thereon this wuest gears in action which forms the crux of the film
Technical Review : The script is tight in the first half promising a good horror thriller but in the second half the story goes hay wire with sequences having no logic .The VFX are good but that is not good enough, The inspiration is taken from mythology but it doesn’t work in today’s time .But directory has given a loud and clear message that till the human kind exist the demon’s will also exist .The good and bad goes hand in hand.
Performances: Kajol gives a superb performance as the harangued mother and determined woman who will fight for what is right .
Ronit Roy is also good but it is Rupkatha Chakraborty who shines as Deepika.
Final Words :Watch for kajol’s performance and VFX this weekend
