Trailer Of Much Awaited Series Citadel Honey Bunny Was Launched At A Grand Event

Varun Dhawan and Samantha, along with the team of their upcoming series Citadel Honey Bunny, attended the trailer launch on October 15

Speaking about the challenges they faced while shooting for a high-octane spy thriller set in the 90s, Varun Dhawan referred to how different the technology was during those days. “Our series start way before the first Citadel begins. We are set in the 90s. This is almost the way everything began and will determine how the future instalments will play out. We are starting afresh and did not have any references to look up to because we are in the 90s. So, we don’t even have all the crazy gadgets that are available today. And, we had to rely a lot on the things that were built in the 90s

Nevertheless, the actor confessed that he thoroughly enjoyed because he shot in one of his favorite time periods. “90s also happens to be my favourite period of filmmaking and life. So, it was really, really fun.” Furthermore, he also revealed how he would often suggest ideas to filmmakers Raj and DK about using references of the 90s. “In the show, there is a big Hindi film backdrop that we have. As I said, I love the 90s and my father made so many films then. So, I used to always come up with suggestions to Raj-DK about using a certain song like a song from Subhash Ghai’s film, etc. We would always keep debating on it,” he shared.

During the event, the actress, who plays the leading role of Honey, explained her reasons for choosing the project.

She stated, “Historically, spy series and films have always centred around male characters who engage in thrilling action, deliver iconic lines, and save the day. What sets this series apart is that I get to partake in the action, which is fantastic.

With Citadel, I’m thrilled to be part of an internationally connected spy world, working alongside talented individuals like Priyanka Chopra and Matilda De Angelis, and taking on significant roles ourselves. It’s a remarkable opportunity to finally represent women in society in this way.”Reflecting on the future of women in cinema, Samantha expressed her desire for equal opportunities in the industry. She stated, “I envision a level playing field where intelligence, talent, and strength determine one’s fate, irrespective of gender.

That would be an incredible achievement. I’m also delighted to be part of a world where this movement has already begun to take center stage. The chance to collaborate with talent from around the globe has expanded significantly. The platform has become much broader, and it feels like the future is bright for everyone.”

Starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha in action-packed roles, the show is directed by Raj & DK of The Family Man fame.

It also stars Kay Kay Menon, Simran, Saqib Saleem, Sikander Kher, Soham Majumdar, Shivankit Parishar and Kashvi Majmundar, in pivotal roles. The six-episode series will premiere globally on Prime Video on November 7, 2024.
