Review Of English Movie Anyone But You – A Visually Good But Forgettable Storyline

Overview : A romantic comedy movie with nothing new to offer

Storyline : A law Student Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben( Glen Powell) first meet in a coffee shop, with an awkward bathroom encounter. It quickly escalates to a night at his place, and ends with her sneaky departure. Ben’s friend Pete (GaTa) teases him about falling in love after the first night, a notion Ben denies while criticizing Bea, unaware she’s come back to apologize and overheard his vitriol and she retracts her feet and leave , Fate throws them together again at a club, where they’re introduced to Pete’s sister Claudia (Shipp), who is engaged to Bea’s sister Halle (Robinson).

Bea and Ben’s exchanges are forced , and to their dismay, they learn they’re both headed to Claudia and Halle’s wedding in Australia. In an attempt to maintain appearances, they try to show to family and freinds that they are both together , but their obvious tension threatens to disrupt the wedding festivities.  As they navigate through a series of mishaps, the question looms: will their efforts  lead to a bitter end or blossom into love? This forms crux of the story.

Technical Review : Anyone But You showcases  the typical rom-com formula: a young woman, an older man, and a predictable plot with little depth .The director  doesn’t strive to break new ground but rather follows  established norms .The film relies more on its supporting cast than the lead pair .the chemistry between lead pair is good but its the supporting caste that plays crucial part.The location and cinematography of the movie is too good to be missed , Australia Sydney harbor and its beaches are  delight to watch.

Performances : Sweeney and Powell are distractingly attractive.  But their performances fail to create an impact However, the film heavily leans on its supporting cast to hold the narrative together. the charm and wit of actors like Dermont Mulroney and GaTa the film becomes enjoyable to watch

Final Words : Anyone But You is amusing to watch  once   especially for its scenic visuals
