Overview : An intriguing Whodunit investigating Crime Thriller.

Storyline : Gumraah’ is based in Delhi and Gurugram and the story feels well-placed in the region. When a man is found murdered in his swanky ibungalow, the police start looking for a killer who seems to have left no traces at the scene of the crime. The first breakthrough is made by police officer Shivani Mathur (Mrunal Thakur), who discovers the murderer as caught on camera by a young couple in the neighboring house. In the background of a photo they took is the prime suspect, whom ACP Dhiren Yadav (Ronit Roy) recognises as a civil engineer named Arjun Sahgal (Roy Kapur). Arjun maintains he’s innocent, but he can’t explain the photo and it’s clear that t Yadav is delighted to have Arjun in his clutches because of his personal agony with Arjun . Soon after, a second person is brought to the police station. Caught for drinking and beating a police officerHis name is Sooraj Rana. He’s a petty conman who has an uncanny head for various sections of the Indian Penal Code.. But there is a twist , he is the identical twin of Arjun. No doubt one of these two men is responsible for the murder, but which one of them is the who of the whodunit? As the evidence , dna reports and forensic reports about both been present at crime scene makes the plot interesting. ACP Dhiren is determined to prove Arjun to be the murderer due to his personal grudges on the other hand Shivani Mathur is pretty sure that sooraj is the murderer. Post that there are many twists and turns that forms the crux of the film.
Technical Review : Debur Director Vardhan Ketkar has made a hindi adaptation of 2019 Tamil Film Thadam , though the director has done a decent job of creating the hindi version but screenplay needed a finishing touches ..The first half is bit sluggish. The story picks up in the second half with twists and turns like gambler mother , identical twins who are poles apart but think similarly , romance , revenge and much more all these angles explored in second half .Director has managed to give audience a gripping thriller with a simple but powerful climax that is intriguing .

Performances : Aditya Roy Kapur delivers a sincere performance and plays both characters in a convincing manner. Mrunal Thakur is decent though she looks like a mannequin in most scenes with nil emotions , while Vedika’s charming presence lights up the screen. Ronit Roy once again proves his versatility as he plays the role of ACP Yadav with ease and finesse.
Final Words : Gumraah is a decent thriller with good twists and turns which one can enjoy in theatre.
Rating : 3.5*/5*
