ShortsTV brings 2019 Oscar Nominated Films to Indian Cinema

February is a month of love , love for movies, as Oscar fever is on everywhere.

ShortsTV, the world’s only TV channel dedicated to short movies (available in India on Tata Sky), is bringing the ‘2019 Oscar® Nominated Short Films’ to Indian cinemas

The year’s most spectacular short films and will be the first time that the Oscar® Nominated Short Films are shown on the big screen in India.

The ‘2019 Oscar® Nominated Shorts Films’ will showcase the Live Action and Animation short film nominees’ compilation as two separate theatrical releases. The Live Action release will also include the nominated documentary, ‘Period. End of Sentence’, which was filmed in India.

A preview of some Films was screened for the media . 2 Animated shorts were screened and one live action movie Detainment was screened and documentary ‘Period .End of Sentence’ was also screened.

First one was Bao -Animation

Director :Done Shee

The story is about an aging Chinese Mom who feels lonely as her son has grown up and leading his own life. She gets a second chance of motherhood when one of her dumplings springs to life.She is overjoyed and protects it at every phase of life till it grows up to move out , what happens then…

The movie has captured  the emotions all the mothers share around the globe beautifully. The movie gives the message that for all mothers their children are their world.

2) Movie Name : Detainment (Ireland -Uk)

Director: Vincent Lambe

This movie is based on true incident that happened back in 1993 in U.k . Two ten year old boys were detained by the police as suspects for abduction and murder of a toddler James Bulgar.

The movie is based from the interview transcripts between suspects and police.

The two boys who have enacted the role has done a fantastic job . Each of their expressions are captured beautifully. The whole interrogation is directed such as it’s really happening in front of you.

3) One Small Step -Animation(USA & China)

Director : Andrew Chesworth And Bobby                          Pontillas

The Story is of Young Chinese American Girl Luna , who dreams of becoming an asrtronaut , her father is a cobler who is quiet supportive but she is always busy in her own world . Will she fulfill her dream .

4) ‘Period End of Sentence’  :Documentary

(USA ) – 26 mins /2018

Director : Rayka Zehtabchi

The Documentary is about Rural Parts of India where still Menstruation is considered as a stigma and it is still taboo to talk about it. The Documentary is shot in rurul village outside Delhi where women still are wearing dirty clothes and pads are still not in use and many girls drop out of school due to difficulties they have to face during periods.

But now women are slowly leading a quiet revolution and they have started making and marketing pads

The nominees’ countries of origin range from Ireland, Canada, China, Spain to the United States. Furthermore, several films focus on Asia or are from filmmakers of Asian descent, and there are five women directors nominated in this year’s short film category.

Globally, this marks the 14th consecutive year of the Oscar® Nominated Short Films theatrical experience

In India, the release will be available exclusively in PVR Cinemas across 9 cities from 22 February: Mumbai, Delhi/NCR, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh.
