Review Of The Movie Aiyaary

Director And Writer : Neeraj Pandey

Cast : Manoj Bajpai, Siddarth Malhotra , Rasul Preet Kaur,Kumud Mishra, Anupam Kher And Naseeruddin Shah

Overview : A complicated story line with a meaningless base. But reveals important issue only in the climax

Story Line :The story revolves around two army man Jai Bakshi (Siddarth Malhotra) and Abhay (Manoj Bajpai)  .They are part of Covert team headed by his mentor, Abhay. The unit is the Indian model of MI6 and CIA. This  unit has been secretly recruited by the army chief , to take down anti-national elements all across the world.

While working for this unit, Jay is put on surveillance duty of some senior army officials and politicians, which disillusions him about the workings of the armed forces. He realizes that it is not only the politicians but also the army that is knee-deep in corruption. He decides to stop working for corrupt army parallerly  By becoming corrupt himself. He trades valuable info of this covert unit for cash with Gurinder (Kumud Mishra), a senior ex-army official and arms dealer. Gurinder, in turn, uses this information to blackmail the army chief and threatens to expose his covert unit. The only condition on which Gurinder promises to keep mum is if the army chief sanctions an arms deal that would cost India four times more than usual. It becomes Abhay’s responsibility, therefore, to stop Jay from trading army secrets that will not only destroy their special unit but also result in public embarrassment of the army chief as well as the Indian Army. Thus begins the cat-and-mouse chase between Abhay and Jay that forms the major part of the film. There is also a subplot that everyone alludes to, but no one reveals until the last ten minutes of the film. This subplot resembles the Adarsh Nagar Housing society scam and seems too forced to make any sense in the larger scheme of things.

What happens next is for the audience to watch

Script Analysis And Director Review : Neeraj Pandey the director who has given us thrillers like A Wednesday , Special 26 and Baby has continued his legacy of giving thrillers but Aiyaary lacks any thrill infact the director has complicated the story totally with too many subplots and flashbacks . The real plot is revealed in the climax which is just 15 mins the rest of the movie made around it is totally waste of time with no connection whatsoever with the main plot. The big bang background score is just added to keep the thrill but it falls flat. The length of the film will make you yawn at many times with unnecessary scenes .

Performances : Manoj Bajpai is the real hero of the movie. He has very well played his role. He has enacted the role of army men to perfection at the same time he also has some comic timings and also has given us hilarious moments. Siddarth Malhotra tried too hard to match up to Manoj Bajpai but that will take lots of time for him. Rasul Preet Kaur as Siddarth Malhotra’s Girlfriend seems lost in most part of the movie. Others have done their job as per the role. But big stars like Manoj Bajpai. Anupam kher and Naseeruddin Shah has been wasted in the movie

Final Word : You will have to use your brain to understand the movie. Watch it if you have patience to sit through full 3hours for a movie which is totally goes bouncer.
