The trailer launch event of Akka Was attended by Lead actresses Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte alongside supporting cast member Tanvi Azmi, director Dharmaraj Shetty, YRF Executive Producer Yogendra Mogre, and Netflix India Series Head Tanya Bami.

The event spotlighted the gritty tone of Akka, a 1980s-set gangster drama centered around a fictional South Indian town named Pernuru where women hold the reins of power. The plot follows a high-stakes clash and bitter rivalry between two powerful women—Bhawani (Keerthy Suresh) and Rudra (Radhika Apte)—whose struggle for control threatens their generational sisterhood

In a major highlight from the event, Netflix India’s Tanya Bami revealed that Netflix has a dedicated office meeting room named specifically after Radhika Apte, celebrating her extensive history of collaborations with the platform (which includes Lust Stories, Raat Akeli Hai, and Monica, O My Darling). Radhika joked about the honor, noting how people often jokingly ask her if she holds “shares in Netflix” given her frequent projects with them

Talking About her character Keerthy said: “Bhawani is a woman who knows what she stands for and will go to great lengths to protect her legacy.”
Radhika said: “Rudra is someone who refuses to be defined… She is fierce, has her own ambitions and is willing to challenge the established order.”

Produced by YRF Entertainment and marking Dharmaraj Shetty’s feature directorial debut, Akka is scheduled to premiere globally on Netflix on October 30, 2026.
