The trailer launch event for Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming crime thriller Daayra took place in Mumbai on August 31, 2026.
The event saw the presence of lead actors Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, along with director Meghna Gulzar and producers Dr. Jayantilal Gada and Vineet Jain.
Kareena shared that playing DCP Ajooni Kohli pushed her into unexplored territory at this stage of her career. She praised director Meghna Gulzar for making actors question their characters’ motivations and called working with Prithviraj a “pleasure”.
Prithviraj praised the film’s refusal to present issues in black and white, noting how his character, DCP Raman Kumar, grapples with deep internal conflicts throughout the investigation.
When Kareena was asked about Daayra releasing on the same day (September 18, 2026) as her brother-in-law Kunal Kemmu’s film VIBE, Kareena laughed off the conflict, saying: “Gold mere ghar pe hi aayega to I am happy” (“The gold will come to our home either way”). She expressed confidence that both films could thrive together in theaters.
Kareena Kapoor Khan also said that as a mother of two sons, stressing the importance of raising kind and emotionally expressive boys. She shared that she actively encourages her sons to express their emotions and cry when they need to, challenging the stereotype that only women are sensitive.
Prithviraj Sukumaran, father to an 11-year-old daughter, addressed the complexities of parenting in modern society and expressed frustration over the slow delivery of justice, emphasizing that society a whole needs to work toward reform.
