Overview:the film delivers high-octane spectacle and dark thematic ambitions
Storyline: The story is set in an era of pre and post independence, wherein , Raya ( Yash) and his sister Ganga ( Nayanthara) lives in Goa which is still under the Portuguese rule , Ganga wants Raya to control all illegal business in Goa and also also illegal activities in Macau , to gain control , Raya is bethored to marry Kingpin Salvadore(Darrel D’Silva) daughter Rebecca( Tara Sutaria) , Raya wants to fulfill His sisters all wishes . Enters Nadia ( Kiara Advani )who runs a circus and is it’s star performer, and the usually dispassionate gangster Raya begins to feel something resembling love. Ganga tries to stop him as he is getting married to the Kingpin’s daughter .after that there are many twists and turns Nadia is forced by Salvodore’s Rival to kill Ganga , and also Nadia is pregnant with Raya”s child but Raya hates her as she has killed His sister Ganga , Nadia commits suicide leaving her son behind but circumstances becomes Raya does not accept his child and accidentally he also is killed , Raya is left alone and he becomes very dangerous and suffers from spit personality as his guilt is eating him inside of not being able to save his child , on one hand he becomes Kingpin of illegal business in Goa and on the other hand due to spilt personality he destroys himself all this forms crux of the movie
Technical Review : Toxic is filled to the brim with characters, the screenplay introduces dozens of side characters, subplots, and faction dynamics without giving them room to breathe Too much of violence , Abuse , drugs , mafia repetitive gunfire, and graphic bloodbaths that quickly become numbing rather than tense.
The pace is too long , editing could have been sharp , There is lack of any emotions in the movie.
Visually Arresting World-Building: Rajeev Ravi’s cinematography and the period production design create a gorgeous, dark-comic-book aesthetic. The noir lighting, textured sets, and atmospheric color palettes set it apart visually from typical action fare.
most notably a sequence set inside an ambush-laden circus—showcase genuine directorial flair and high-energy choreography.
Performances: Yash’s Screen Presence: is very powerful , Shifting seamlessly between the menacing, older Raya and his younger, de-aged counterpart Ticket, Yash anchors every frame he is in. His swagger and physical commitment hold the film together during its thinnest moments. ,All the ladies Nayanthara, Kiara , Tara Sutaria and Huma Qureshi have small roles the whole movie is centred on Yash
Final Words : Toxic is worth a watch for die-hard Yash fans and viewers who enjoy dark, stylistically rich action world-building.
