Technical Review : The combination of Vishal Bharadwaj and Gulzar and Shahid Kapoor gives an explosion of action and poems , Expectations were high after the combination gave us Hyder and Kaminey but in this movie first half will test your patience as story developes brick by brick and silences speak but second half is good and challenging. Music by Gulzar is outstanding.
Performances: Shahid Kapoor delivers a performance that reminds us why he is Bhardwaj’s ultimate muse. His Romeo is jagged, broken, and dangerously quiet. Something shifts in his DNA organically when Shahid Kapoor enters Vishal Bhardwaj’s world as Ustraa. Too loud at times and still having eyes that haunt in silences. Shahid pulls off both emotions with such finesse!
Tripti Dimri has done a role is not the conventional lover but she is revenge seeking damsel who is not distressed but full of vengeance

Avinash Tewary as antogonist owns the frame and looks powerful as the villain of this love-revenge drama!
Nana Patekar and Farida Jalal are under utilized
Final Words : It’s a dark , poetic and voilent movie
