Overview : A coming of age story of generational conflicts between ,A conservative Grandfather and rebellious teenage girl that is beautifully captured in this drama
Storyline : The movie is set in London where Binny (Anjini Dhawan) stays with her parents Vinay Singh (Rajesh Kumar) and Radhika Singh (Charu Shanker). She is a carefree teenager who loves her freedom and her own space and enjoy outings and parties with friends ,but her world turns upside down when her traditional grand parents come to visit them from Bihar . Binny’s parents pretends to be sanskari hindu family .They hide their bar behind their book case when SN Singh (Pankaj Kapur) and his wife visits . Vinay and Charu they stop smoking and drinking and socializing with friends , but Binny hates these pretenses , when grandparents come , she has to vacate her room , limit her clubbing and all , She longs that her parents be genuine in front of elders and present them as they are , she thinks that her father is afraid of his father and they don’t communicate well , this leads to conflicts between them .The story takes an earth shattering turn when Binny’s Grand Mother expires and her grand father is left alone , her grandfather shifts to London . Her Grandfather is depressed and lonely , Binny tries to console him . She introduces her Grand Father to Social Media and she and her friend Bhavesh Parikh (Naman Tripathy) try to help him come out of his grief . He also in return teaches her valuable lessons about love and empathy and relationships. Binny and her Grandfather come close and they understand each other well in sync with the theme of the movie ‘Its all about loving your grandparents’. Taking inspiration from her grandfather Binny puts all this learning in a form of aplay which gives her recognition in inter high school competitions. But still some twist awaits in the story which forms the crux of the film
Technical Review : Sanjay Tripathi Has Very Well Directed the movie , Sanjay Tripathi has the ability to bring raw emotions and real life family dynamics to the screen . The screenplay intricately weaves humor , love and life lessons making the story totally relatable to the masses of India , who are family oriented .He has also revealed that Lack of Communication and hesitation results in gap between generations .
Performances : Pankaj Kapur is the master in acting , potraying grief and loss with profound depth, His interactions with Binny are full of entertainment and delight to watch . Debutant Anjini Dhawan has given a very powerful and confident approach . Her confrontation with her grandfather where raw feeling of anger and guilt are done perfectly.
Other are perfect as per their role .
Final Words :Binny and family is a celebration of love , understanding in the family , It has a message that communication is a key to bridge gap between generations . It’s a must watch for all families.
