Overview : Based On True Events Of Caste & Creed Discrimination & Honor Killing That Still Prevails in Interiors Of India
Storyline : The Story Begins With Major Abhimanyu (John Abraham) who is on a mission to catch a terrorist , the Indian Army Chief wants that terrorist Alive , but major Abhimanyu Kills the terrorist due to his personal grudge , He is court marshalled and removed from the army , He reaches his father in laws place in Interior Rajasthan . There his father in law gets him a job of assistant coach to teach boxing , Around more then 150 villages are governed by Pradhan Jitendra Pratap Singh (Abhishek Banerjee) , Vedaa (Sharvari) along with her father and brother and sister stays in the same village of Barmer but they belong to low caste ,She is studying in the local college and has accepted her status . Jitendra Pratap;s Younger Brother organizes Boxing Competition in the college , Vedaa wants to learn Boxing so as to protect herself and her family but she is not allowed to learn due to caste discrimination , Major Abhimanyu comes to know , he secretly teaches her the sport , Moving ahead Vedaa‘s Brother has fallen in love with a girl from upper caste , they both want to get married and they do get married but Pradhan his gang kills both of them , after that they want to kill Vedaa And her sister , Both sister’s try to escape but Vedaa is only left , her sister is killed . Vedaa somehow manage to escape and reach Major Abhimanyu’s home , Major takes it upon his shoulder responsibility to protect her , he asks her where does she want to go , she says that she wants to go to court to appeal and grant her right to live in peace , to breathe , in this journey there are too many challenges as Jitendra Pratap and his team are after her life and chasing her , what strategy will Major Apply forms the crux of the movie.
Technical Review : Director Nikhil Advani who has given romantic movies , has stepped into the world of action . Director has explored the sensitive subject of caste and creed with lots of Research , but a lot more can be explored in the film .The Action Sequences are good but too much violence is shown in the second half of the movie , editing should have been tight .The location and cinematography is good . The special highlight of the movie is in the climax when no judge in court is ready to support Vedaa , amidst this a lady judge raises her hand for hearing her case .That scene is shot beautifully.
Performances : John Abraham has minimal dialogues and speaks through his eyes and his action sequences .Sharvari Rocks the show , she has totally blended herself in her character and nailed it , minus the glamour , she is a fighter and not helpless . The surprise packet is Abhishek Banerjee who has given a power pack performance as a villain , he has come way ahead from his comic image to this cold blooded villain in a sophisticated manner . Others are ok a. per their role.
Final Words : We are celebrating Independence Day but really are we Independent with Caste and Creed Discrimination and Honor Killing Still Existing In India . A must watch for masses
