After many many years set in present day Pune, a geeky college student Bittu (Abhay Verma) works at a salon with his mother Pammi (Mona Singh), and enjoys sweet moments back home with his aaji (Suhas Joshi). He adored his childhood friend Bella (Sharvari), but is reluctant to express those feeling because she is with an English guy, Kuba. Bittu often gets nightmares and hears muffled voices from the peepal tree haunted by Munjya. One fine day Aditya Along with his mum and grandma,  soon visits their family in the village for his cousins engagement , on reaching Chiplun his village Bittu learns buried secrets about  how his father also died due to family’s history with a deadly place called chetuk-baari where Munjya’s spirit dwells in peepal tree Bittu . Bittu is upset and  visits that place but Bittu’s life turns upside down when he is trapped by Munjya.Munjya is perceived as a creature that is both monstrous and childlike due to dying at a young age. Once a demon, he is visible only to people from his bloodline thats why he is visible only to aditya , and so munjya tends to trouble them to fulfill desires, mostly fixated of marriage and finding Munni after that  story unfolds in the most unexpected yet hilarious way which forms the crux of the movie.

Technical Review : For a supernatural horror comedy, Munjya, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, blends way too many elements that intrigue you in the beginning, but gradually, end up only as a series of comedic instances that struggle to scare you.

The first half is slow but the second half is fast paced and the whole sequences of super natural things are shown to keep audience hooked.Niren Bhatt’s screenplay is solid , Saurabh Goswami’s  cinematigraphy is too good which makes the settings look spooky, especially with the aerial shots of the village, that peepal tree and the stunning beach leading to it.

Performances : Abhay Verma as Aditya is fantastic as per his character potraying perfect blend od being scared and courageous Flawlessly , His chemistrt with the creature is too good to be missed .Sharvari has not much to do in first half but in second half she shines .

Mona Singh is good as per her role.

Hand of God, Elvis Karim Prabhakar (S Sathyaraj), who claims to free people from evil spirits by chanting ‘hallelujah’. He does add to the comedic element and doesn’t disappoint.

Final Words : Munjya is a heady mix of love , obsession , black magic , horror blended with comedy which you can enjoy with family in a theatre near you.
