The series was launched with an eyeball-grabbing trailer on Tuesday evening in Mumbai.

Rapid Fire With Emraan Hashmi

After a rapid-fire round with his actors, in true Koffee with Karan-style, Karan was asked, that being a producer himself, how has he seen the industry’s perspective towards producers change from the time that his father Yash Johar produced films. “I have seen the evolution of the producer in Bollywood. Earlier, they weren’t given much respect but today they have the position of being he most important people on a film set, along with the director,” said Karan. “But I must say that today the writer is more important than either producer or director,” he added.
Showtime promises a look at the real and raw aspects of Bollywood, is the promise from the team. Emraan, known to never mince his words, said it like he felt it. “Our show looks at some crazy, eccentric and delusional characters, many of which you will find examples of in the industry itself. It takes a close look at the vulnerabilities of a star on a Friday morning when his film is about to release. It is a world I have lived in for many than 20 years,” said Emraan, who has perfectly balanced the actor in him with the star that he is.

Rajeev had initially refused his part – that of a fading superstar but decided to give Showtime a go eventually. “I don’t relate to this character at all. I did it because I told myself that if I can ace this part, then I can ace anything. It was a challenge,” said the actor.
Emraan added that Showtime is not a slow-burn show. “It is a chaotic, entertaining watch. It holds you by the collar and doesn’t let go.”
