Review Of Japanese Movie Monster – An extraordinary film

Cast: Sakura Ando, Eita Nagayama, Soya Kurukwa

Director : Hirokazu Koreeda

Overview .A beautiful story revolving around children’s specially ,single parent children how they have to deal with their demons and their acceptance in school

Storyline : The film has 3 acts .In the first act The film begins with Minatoa ( Soya Kurukawa)school going kid  asking his single momSaori ( if someone with a pig’s brain implanted into a human body would still be considered human. He initially says he’s just interested in the science, but when pressed, he eventually explains that his fifth-grade teacher Hori (Eita Nagayama) called him a pig-brained monster. Saori has noticed her son has been acting depressed; he repeatedly asks questions about death and reincarnation, and in one upsetting scene, he flings himself from a moving car as an act of self-injury. Hearing that an abusive teacher is the primary source of her son’s pain sends Saori on a righteous war pat h to get justice against the school ,

The teachers, including the school principal Fushimi (Yuko Tanaka), engage in a series of big overly formal apologies to try to make everything right. Saori isn’t satisfied, further questioning the situation and engaging in some semi-idetective work of her own. Hori comes out to be highly suspicious. He claims that Minato is not some innocent victim but has in fact been bullying his even more eccentric classmate Eri (Hinata )

From there on the story begins again through the perspective of Hori , Is he involved in child abuse or clean forms the crux of the movie

The third act is the main act which is shown from Minato ‘ perception , it reveals why and how each scenes  of the first act came into being , why Minato acted the way he did , what exactly had happened

Has yet again given palm de cannes winner gem , exploring the mind of young children , especially raised by single parents , He has presented the movie with fine technicality and created a masterpiece .Cinematography is too good to be missed .
