Review Of Movie Sam Bahadur – Vicky Kaushal Shines As A Famed Warrior

Overview :Its a bio pic of l Famed Feild Marshal of Indian Army Sam Maneckshaw.

Storyline : The story begins with Sam training a bunch of army trainees and he ask one of the cadets as to what is his name , the cadet in the quest to spell his name correctly says this his name is Sam Bahadur from thereon Sam Maneckshaw came to be known as Sam Bahadut .The story is a narrative of Sam’s journey from Pre British Era till India Pakistan War of 1971 ..During this journey Sam faced many war fronts right from Japan’s intrusion into Burma , Assam and many more , He faced 5 bullets shot on him by a japanese soldier and still survived the battle feild , only due to his mantra of life I am ok ..His determination and love for his country is the zist of his life.

One moment Sam Manekshaw is a young gentleman cadet being punished for a night out, the next he’s a platoon commander winning a boxing match in Lahore. One moment he approaches a woman at a party, the next they’ve started a family. One moment he’s dining with his friend Major Yahya Khan, the next he’s a multilingual Parsi soldier from Amritsar who chooses India during the Partition while Khan drinks his sadness away. One moment he’s framed by a jealous colleague, the next he’s advising the Prime Minister.

The movie then moves on the post independence when Indira Gandhi Became Prime Minister of India .Sam and Indira Gandhi  ( Fatema Sana Sheikh) both connect with each other at a next level thats how both of them with strategy and intelligent planning won the india pakistan war of 1971. After that Sam Maneckshaw was appointed as Feild Marshal of Indian Army.

Technical Review : Director Meghna Gulzar Effectively Captures the human angles in moments of conflict showcasing Vicky Kaushal’s impactful potrayal of Sam Maneckshaw.mannerisms . 

The film aims to capture the Sam Maneckshaw more than a person. An embodiment of nationalism , valour and resilence 

Sa. Beliefs that war is the reason for enemy soldiers to die is the central theme that meghna has tried to portray throughout the film .

Technically the film is brilliant but still it looks like many pieces of  clothes are used but not stitched and blended properly

Performance : Vicky Kaushal has given a best performance playing the role of a famed military hero .There are four decades of Sam Maneckshaw that Vicky has played with total perfection , his growth and his mannerisms are potrayed by him beautifully. Sanya Malhotra as Sillu ,Sam’wife has nothing much to do .Fatema as Indira Gandhi is good .

Final Words : Its a different movie than many war movies that we have seen .It is more of a narrative and mannerisms of rise and shine of a soldier who becomes India’s First Field Marshal
