Overview : Selfiee is a remake of Malayam Film Driving Licence , it is as good as the original but with a suttle tone.
Storyline : The Story revolves around super star of film industry Vijay Kumar ( Akshay Kumar) , Vijay has a shooting schedule lined up in the city of Bhopal , during his shooting sequences he needed driving license in order to shoot the climax of his film , as he had lost his driving license , he decides to get his license made in Bhopal itself as to wrap up his shoot schedule as he had to go to USA for personal issue .A rendezvous is arranged through local corporator .(Meghna Malik) to meet motor vehicle Inspector Om Prakash Agrawal ( Emran Hashsmi ) so that Om Prakash, who is Vijay’s diehard fan, can fulfill his dream of getting a selfie with the actor in exchange for his driving license .
A misunderstanding at Vijay and Om Prakash’s first face-to-face encounter leaves Vijay enraged and Om Prakash hurt beyond words , Om Prakash Self Esteem is hurt , he digs in his heel and is adamant that Vijay Super Star must go through the entire rigmarole of form filling and tests that ordinary citizens endure for a license, thus leading to a media outrage and a huge tamasha begins , from thereon entire face off between Vijay and Om Prakash Agarwal becomes breaking news and entire procedure of driving license is telecast on national news channel , where will this tashan between superstar and his fan will recline forms the crux of the movie.
Technical Review : The movie is very suttle and very well directed by Raj Mehta , though it is a simple story but it reflects the fact that same rules are applicable to all people whether it is Superstar or a Common Man ..Director also tells the fact that a Common Man is also a hero to his child and he can go to any lengths to protect his self respect and his image of hero in the eyes of his child. Director has managed to give an entertaining movie, especially the second half is quite interesting which will keep the audience glued to their seats.
Performances : Akshay Kumar has given a good performance with grace and good attitude , after a long time he is back in his element of good roles like his super hits rustom , airlift , padman .
Emraan has the most challenging of the film’s roles and manages to make Om Prakash likable even while he is being petty, by ensuring that we know he’s coming from a place of genuine pain and not just a wounded ego.
Diana Penty brings a glowing dignity to her role as Vijay’s wife.
Others are ok as per their role.
Final Words : Selfiee is an all in all an entertaining family movie especially sequences of face off between Akshay Kumar and Emran Hashmi are too good to be missed . A good weekend watch.
