Review of English Movie -The Fablemans -A Lavish Memmoir OF Speilbergs Passion for Cinema

Directed by Steven Spielberg.

Star Cast : Michelle Williams  ,Paul Dano ,Seth Rogen Gabriel LaBelle ,Judd Hirsch

Overview :Steven Spielberg has returned with a phenomenal family drama in The Fabelmans. A coming of age epic that loosely chronicles the director’s youth.

Gabriel LaBelle as Sammy Fabelman in “The Fablemans”

Storyline : Set in the 1950’s The Fabelmans” begins well, with young Sammy going to the movies for the first time. His parents expect that “The Greatest Show on Earth” will be a jolly circus movie, but the film’s violence — in particular, the scene of a train crash and derailment — leaves the boy stunned. He asks for a train set for Hanukkah and proceeds to make his own trains crash.

His mother (played by Michelle Williams) intuits that, in staging these crashes, Sammy is trying to gain mastery over a trauma. She gets the idea that he should use his father’s 8mm movie camera to film the trains crashing, so that he can watch it as often as he likes without wrecking the train set.

From there on his journey starts of making films , he passionate is to make  war films.

During filming ine of family picnnic , sammy comes across his mother’s secret affair.

The strain of his parents’ marriage is a major thread of “The Fabelmans.” Mom is artistic and intuitive, while dad (Paul Dano) is reserved and scientific. The movie tries hard to play it right down the middle and not favor either parent,

Fortunately, as Sammy grows up, the story drifts away from the parents, and thus becomes more interesting. The whole last hour, in which Sammy adjusts to being the only Jewish kid going to high school in Santa Clara County, is reasonably entertaining, and there are lots of good individual scenes.

Technical Review : The movie is very well directed by speilberg himself , a fairy tale canvas is created.

The last five minutes or so of The Fabelmans remind us why Steven Spielberg got where he is and the last shot just proves how much he learned from his predecessors and what a gift that is to all of us.

Performances :Gabriel LaBelle gives an extraordinary performance as Sammy and the audience can feel both his pain and his joy in crucial moments of his life. Paul Dano and Seth Rogen are always interesting to watch, but Michelle Williams steals the scene playing a very complex and contradictory character. The supporting cast is also very good, but the real breakout is Chloe East, responsible for the funniest scene in the whole movie.

Final Words :The Fablemans is a crowd-pleasing family drama that will touch your heart, and showcase a side of Spielberg you’ve never seen before. A must watch film

Ratings :4*/5*
