Trailer Of Movie Qala Was Launched At A Grand Event WITH Babil Khan Debuting In It

The trailer of Qala, the upcoming psychological thriller starring Swastika Mukherjee, Triptii Damri, and Babil Khan, was unveiled on November 15 for the media at the press conference . The film is set to premiere on Netflix on December 1, 2022.

Dutt, best known for the critically-acclaimed feature “Bulbbul”, said she was keen to narrate a story about a mother and daughter through “Qala”.

As a filmmaker and writer, she said she is drawn towards fantasy tales.

“As a commissioned writer, I do my best to serve their vision. These (referring to ‘Bulbbul’ and ‘Qala’) are the stories that speak to me. I read a lot of fantasy and science fiction. That’s my genre of choice.

The director, who wrote the first draft of “Qala” in 2013, shared how she discussed the film’s idea with music composer Amit Trivedi, who promised to be part of the project whenever she would start working on it.

Now finally it is made but it is not done by me alone a whole lot of people are involved in it.

Babil Khan, who is debuting with Qala, remembered his father, late actor Irrfan Khan, at the trailer launch of the film last evening. He said that he wishes to explore his own qualities, talent, and skills rather than imitate the same charm his father had on the screen. “Mere father ki jo khoobiyan thi woh leke chale gaye, ab mein apni khoobiyan explore karunga (My father took his qualities with him, now I’ll explore mine).

Babil Khan began shooting the film a few months after Irrfan Khan passed away in April 2020 and he mentioned that he was under a “lot of pressure” at the time. “Two years ago, when we were shooting, that time also the pressure was there. It would overwhelm me, it would scare me but now it motivates me to do better and work. The definition of pressure has changed now,” he said.

Directed by Anvitaa Dutt, the film also stars Amit Sial, and writer, and comedian Varun Grover and produced by Karnesh Ssharma. The film marks the second venture of  Anvitaa Dutt, Ssharma and  Tripti Dimri after the 2020 Netflix horror film Bulbul . Music in the film is composed by Amit Trivedi and lyrics by Anvitaa  Dutt, Grover, Swanand Kirkire and Kausar Munir.
