Overview : A remake of 2017 Tamil Film by the same title and same directors with some changes to fit into bollywood maiñ stream cinema.
Storyline : We all have heard stories of Vikram and Betaal , this movie is based on this concept of Vikram Betaal , in modern day world , The Wise King Vikram played by Saif Ali Khan , here, is an officer in the Uttar Pradesh Police STF while Vedha (Hrithik Roshan) is a gangster who lords over Lucknow.Vikram along with his team is given the task to nab dreaded gangster Vedha who’s been underground for a while. While the cops are still figuring out how to nab Vedha based on a recent tip-off, the gangster himself walks into the police station to surrender himself. During his subsequent interrogation, Vedha narrates a story to Vikram which can completely change his concept of good and evil. There after In their cat-and-mouse game, Vikram comes face to face with Vedha thrice. But each time, a riddle posed by Vedha forces him to re-evaluate what is right and wrong. Each of the answers also helps him solve a case he is working on. Surrounding this beautiful and layered folk-inspired script is an assortment of slick fight scenes and action sequences, and a Hrithik dance number. Quite simply, there is something for everyone here.
Technical Review : As it is remake òf tamil film but the writer and director duo have carefully woven this story to fit it in bollywood style.The story, intricately written and non-linear in nature, demands your attention as a lot of minute details are part of the screenplay. With three solid backstories that form the core of the plot,..The screenplay is fantastic though it drags a bit , editing could have been tight. The first half is dragging but second half is far more interesting as the back stories are revealed layer by layer leaving audience in awe.
Performances ; The two actors manage to shine with their performances .Hrithiks role is far more fleshed out then Saif’s .
Roshan also sinks his teeth into making Vedha a very contrived personality who may be on the wrong side of the law but yet is a do-gooder.
Saif, on the other hand is restrained in his portrayal of Vikram the cop. He does get the quirky lines, and the humour that exists in the narrative throughout .Standoffs between Vikram and Vedha are superbly executed- both at writing as well as performance level.
Their chemistry is mind blowing.
Radhika Apte plays a role of lawyer , Vedha is her client on the other hand she is married to Vikram the cop , she has done a decent job .
Final Words :With Two bollywood hunks and interesting plot , Vikram Vedha is a good weekend watch.
