Review Of Movie Dhokhaa Round The Còrner – A Tangled Story

Directoŕ : Kookie Gulati

Star cast : R.Madhvan, Aparshakti Khurana , Darshan Kumar and Khushali Kumar .

Overview : The film  claims to be a psychological thriller trying to balance drama and suspense plus thrill but loses balancè

Storyline : The story begins with Yatharth (R.Madhavan) and Sanchi (Khushali Kumar) both have a beautiful love marriage which gets sour after a period of time with Yatharth discovering that Sanchi has a psychologly disorder, and she wants to divorce yatharth to do so , Refusing to comply, Yathaarth brushes it off as one of her delusional episodes. However, he soon learns that his wife has been taken hostage by an terrorist Gul Huq ( Aparshakti Khurana ) and he rushes home in an attempt to save her.

When Yathaarth reaches home he finds that his bldg compound has been turned into Police Force Camp headed by Ips officer Inspector Mallik ( Darshan Kumar ), And the entire media also present in his bldg compound .

On the other hand, Inspector Malik and Gul have a history too. Malik had caught him in an alleged bomb blast case and jailed him for months. When he was being taken from one jail to another, he allegedly escapes and takes Malik’s gun as well. With which he has held Saachi ..Do they really want to rescue Saachi  or there are twist , with , Each character sharing  their side of the story. Wherein Yathaarth claims that Sanchi is delusional, thinks she falsely suspects him of having an affair with her psychiatrist and accuses her of presenting a sensuous side to win over a situation, Sanchi accuses him of falsely declaring her mentally ill and having an extramarital affair.

Malik and Haq have their own version of the game going. Malik claims that Haq is a trained Kashmiri terrorist who is in the city to seek revenge for a death that took place years ago and planned the bomb blasts but Haq says he has no idea about it and is an innocent man…rest is for audience to watch.

Technical Review : Director Kookie Gulati tried to tangle the whole story and to top it all havs added the pschological disillusion effect which lets The heroine use her sensuality to take control of situation  from time to time .so much so that she uses her sensuality to keep Gul Haq also under her spell.

The second half goes on guessing  who is telling the truth and whether Saachi will be rescued safely or not .Kookie Gulati has tied too many knots,  ultimately the story gets lost in those  knots leaving lots of loose ends.

Performances : Aparshakti Khurana is the best , ,The actor impresses with his good Kashmiri dialect and presents all his acting traits of an unstable criminal, a weak lover, a man trying to pick between life and death, and eventually a heartbroken mentally ill man. With fine quality finesse.

R.Madhvan is also good but though it looked like hebis still under the spell of rocketery effect.

Darshan Kumar dissapoints as he has no action scenes to perform which is his forte.

Khushali Kumar is debuting  other than showcasing her curves and sensuality nothing else is there.

Final Words : On paper it seems a thriller but the execution of the same lacks any soul. .Watch or not is upto the audience.

Ratings : 2.5*/5*
