Jalsa Director: Suresh Triveni
Where to Watch: Amazon Prime
Overview : A thriller that showcases human emotions beautifully.

Storyline :Story revolves around a high octane journalist Maya Menon( Vidya Balan) who is a successful, well-to-do professional and single parent of a child with severe physical challenges. Her son Ayush Menon (Surya Kasibhatla)is surrounded by the love of his busy yet caring mother, his grandmother Rukmini [Rohini Hattangady], their doting domestic help Ruksana Mohammad [Shefali Shah] and a father (Manav Kaul) who, occasionally surfaces to be with the boy. Ayush clearly considers Ruksana far more than just an employee. He is quite attached to ruksana as she handles his temparament with ease..
One fine day Maya gets late in office and in the absence of driver she had to drive car quite late at night , While she is driving unfortunately a girl comes running out of nowhere in front of maya’s car , the girl gets hurt seriously and is hospitised…Maya Runs away from the site though she is devasted but keeps a brave front , later she comes to know that the girl is her maid ruksana’s daughter, but she hides all this from the maid ,from there roller coaster ride starts of emotions and much more ..What will happen when Ruksana comes to know about it forms the climax of the film which is quiet interesting to watch
Technical Review : Suresh Triveni is an interesting filmmaker who proves with Jalsa that he can handle diverse genres with ease. While Tumhari Sulu was light-hearted, Jalsa is a complex tale of human conflicts that unfold in a slow-burning manner letting the audience feel the heat its characters are going through. The climax has a suprise element..The director has shown two classes of Mumbai beautifully.
Performances: Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah both are power house of talents ..Though the dailogue between Vidya and Shefali is very less but they have used the power of emotions and body language..
Final Words : Its a story of complex emotions with suprise elements which is entertaining.
Ratings : 3.5*/5*
