Overview : Often considered as one of the most unique and inventive novels to be penned for children, author Frances Hodgson Burnett’s The Secret Garden now comes to the silver screen in grand style. The movie adaptation promises to celebrate the essence of Burnett’s work while also exploring fresh elements.

Storyline:The Story is set in an era when British Ruled India …A British Girl Mary (Dixie Egerickk) who has stayed all her life in India with her parents…During the time 1947 Mary Lost her parents to war and cholera…Mary is send back to England Yorkshire to stay with her sulky uncle Mr Craven (Colin Firth)who is husband of Mary’s Mother’s Twin Sister..Both Sisters Have Expired ..Mr Craven Stays in an old castle with his son who is bed ridden ..Mr Craven is devastated by his wife death and son’s disease , he thinks that the castle is cursed …Mary Reaches the Castle and is aghast by Uncle and her cousin .She decides to explore the castle ground while exploring the grounds she stumbles upon a keys which leads to a secret garden…She discovers many secrets of the castle where her mother and aunt …She also discovers that the secret garden has a pond with magical and healing power…She decides to heal her cousin and bring back life in him . Will she be able to do that or be send to boarding school by her uncle is for the audience to watch

Final Impression: Although the movie shares the book’s basic premise, the Marc Munden directorial delves deeper into the psyche of Mary and shines greater light on her bereavement. The novels story has also been given a modern era movie plot lift, backgrounding it to shortly after World War II.
The larger than life sets, pedigreed cast and spellbinding musical score add to the movie’s cinematic charm, transporting you to a land filled with awe and colour.
