Storyline: The story Revolves around Amrita ( Tapsee Pannu) to belongs to middle class family in Delhi…She gets married to Vikram (Pavail Gulati) and leads her life as housewife taking care of him and his mother ….Vikram is just another husband who is more career oriented and is inclined more towards his promotions that will lead him to move to UK than any domestic life ..Amidst all this hunky dowry an incident took place at a house party…Vikram slapped his wife Amrita in front of guest present ….The intensity of that slap goes deeper than one can imagine…Amrita decides to call it quits and divorce Vikram…As that slap was not just a slap but slap on her identity and her self respect …What happens ahead is for the audience to watch.
Script Analysis &Director Review : The Script is good ..It touches reality of many Indian Women who suffer at the hands of their husbands…Many women go through domestic violence and they crush their wishes and career for the sake of family …Director Anubhav Sinha has very well directed the movie .. The question is not about one slap but that slap is on the self respect of women ..
Performances : Tapsee Pannu is power house of talent …She has very well played her role ….She calmly and quietly addresses to the issue …Pavail Gulati is also good …Kumud Mishra has done a good job as father of Amrita .
Final Words : Each Women deserves respect and equal rights …It deals with social stigma that 80% of women face ..This Thappad is very impactful.. A must watch.
