Overview: Chhapaak is a story that makes a bold statement exposing the lenient punishment for the heinous crime of acid-attack.

Storyline: The story begins with acid attack survivor Malti Agarwal ( Deepika Pudkone) on the look out for job 12 years after this incident happened…she meets Amol ( Vikrant Massey) who runs an Ngo Chhaya who helps Acid Attack Survivors ..Malti joins him and then traces of her journey is revealed alongwith other survivors….She also gets the strength to fight her PIL ( Public Interest Litigation) started by her for banning open sale of acid..During her PIL hearings that her story is revealed how when she was in 12th standard she was attacked with acid thrown on her face by family freind Babu the reason being she had not accepted his proposal ..From thereon how her life is completely changed ..How a few drops of acid has taken everything from her…Her long battle of 13 years will they manage to bring amendments in law forms rest of the story

Script Analysis &Director Review :Script has flaws as climax is not designed as per the requirement..Meghna Gulzar who has given us great films like Talvar and Raazi …But in this film Meghna has managed first half perfectly but second half
And climax is not that strong ..

Performances: Deepika Pudkone as Malti has has played this complex character totally in awe …She has managed a perfect balance between depicting pain and depicting light moments later in second half to perfection….letting her face doing the talking .

Vikrant Massey doesn’t have much to do in the movie He gets a half baked character in which he tries to fit in.

Final Word : Its a very emotionally draining movie ..Its a very difficult movie to watch definitely not for faint hearted..

Rating: 3*/5*
