The title song of the much-awaited film Chhapaak was launched in Mumbai on Friday afternoon. Launching the track, Deepika Padukone, who plays the lead character, of the acid attack survivor.
The title track, which has also been released on social media, captures the traumatic experience that the lead character Malti, played by Deepika, goes through. The film is based on the life of acid attack victim Laxmi Agarwal and her struggle to get justice. The soulful song has been penned by Gulzar and sung by Arijit Singh. The song traces Malti’s journey from her acid attack to her brave fight and victory.
The song launch was also graced by director Meghna Gulzar and Vikrant Massey, who plays Malti’s love interest in the film.
Answering to media questions Gulzaar said that even such real stories need soulful songs . This song launch made Deepika break down at the event while she thanked Laxmi Agarwal for trusting the cast and crew with her story. Gulzaar also said that Women Oriented subjects are need of the hour..Watch the video .

Chhapaak, which marks Deepika’ s debut as a producer, will hit the screens on January 10, 2020. While Deepika returns to the silver screen after two years as Padmaavat was her last film, Meghna Gulzar also returns after two years. Her last release was Raazi in 2018.
