Storyline : The Story is set in the gullies of Dharavi Slums of Mumbai Wherin Murad (Ranveer Singh) is an ordinary guy who lives in the slums and faces the usual issues of life. Murad friends consist of people who steal cars to earn money . Murad is against it but reluctantly follows his friend.as he helps him on and off.Murad is a college going guy who is still figuring about what he wants to do . He is a good lyrics writer whereas his girlfriend safina(Alia Bhatt) has a clear vision in life to become a doctor and love Murad profoundly.
She can fight with anyone who tries to come in between them.During a college fest Murad meets MC Sher (Siddhant Chaturvedi) who is mildly famous as a rapper . Murad had the intention of giving his lyrics to him to rap but Mc Sher instead encourages him to rap too and attend such boot camps. Murad takes up territory that he never intended to walk on but due to his abusive father he is determined to explore this opportunity. From there on his journey begins he meets Sky( Kalki koechlin) who has come from foreign to collaborate with upcoming rap artist. Murad with the help of Sher and Sky steps into this unknown territory and takes part in biggest rapping contest . Will he be able to achieve his impossible dream is for the audience to watch.
Script Analysis And Director Review : The Script is basic that we have seen in many Bollywood films , the protagonist hailing from slum aspires to do big against facing restrictions from the family and society but the way the whole movie is presented and executed is perfect .The cinematography is great. Zoya Akhtar has executed this script with much attention given to all minute details .She has shown life in slum especially Dharavi to it’s hard core.
Performances :Ranveer Singh has carried the entire film on his shoulder .His expressions right from when he is nothing to when he becomes something is portrayed powerfully. The Best part is rapping which he himself has done .
Alia Bhatt is a powerhouse of talent and we all know. She is really like a potato who fits in every role that comes her way.
The Surprise is Siddhant Chaturvedi who is debuting in this movie.But the way he has carried himself in this role is mind blowing with total confidence and attitude of a rapper.
Final Words : A must watch film for classes as well as masses.
