Review of the movie Padman

Overview : Amitabh Bachchanji Statement I’m The Movie America ke paas SuperMan Hai , Batman Hai , But India ke paas Padman Hai.This statement says it all .

 

Storyline : The story is based on life of Arunachalam Muruganantham who had invented a pad making machine which was much cheaper than the heavy commercial machines henceforth reducing the price of pad making it more affordable in rural areas. The character of Arunachalam is played in the movie by Akshay Kumar (Laxmikant ) in the movie. The film is based in a small village of Madhya Pradesh where still the woman use dirty clothes during menstruation . Also they are not suppose to enter the house during those 5days of the month. Laxmikant gets very upset when he sees his wife played by Radhika Apte goes through those days wearing unhygienic cloth. He brings pack of ready pads from market that are expensive but his wife refused to use those as they are expensive almost like gold. Laxmikant further on tries to make pad on his own with locally available cotton but he fails in that experiment too . He tries to improve it and to understand what went wrong he himself experiments on wearing the pad but alas he fails in that too so much do that the whole village shames him and his sister’ s and wife all leave him . He himself Leaves the village but he I’d determined to make a perfect pad like the one available in the market. From there in his journey begins of making pad rolling on yo making cheap pad making machine that gets selected at iit Delhi exhibition of new innovations. Sonam Kapoor plays the role of a catalyst who helps and support Laxmikant in gttg his innovation world-wide recognition and also helps him in spread awareness about it in villages . What happens next will he be accepted back in his village will he reunite with his wife is for the audience to watch.

Director Analysis : Director R.Balki has always given us different stories . The Director has managed to spread the msg of women’s health and hygiene during periods time in a very graceful  manner . He has touched the subject which is still considered taboo to talk about even in urban areas in India. He has very well presented the movie. The first half is little stretched out but all the action is in second half.

 

Performances : Akshay Kumar is a powerHouse  of talent . He is on the pre of giving movies that have public service msg . First Toilet ek prem Katha and now padman. He is the only actor who can play such roles without any hesitation. His dialogues in the climax when he addresses at U.N. Headquarters in U.S.A. saying that how the progress of a country depends on the health and hygiene of women. If women are healthy so is the country is mind blowing. Sonam Kapoor has also done a good job in the movie. Radhika Apte is quite simple as per her role.

 

Final Words : A must watch for all people men and women all if they want next generation to be healthy and have a good life …  People should understand that periods are natural phenomen and hygiene has to be maintained by women . Break the taboo and wear the pad
